Pittsburgh Penguins 2010-2011 Thread

Lots to talk about in the days leading up to hockey free agency July 1st (and the NHL Draft upon us).
We've got the opening of the Consol Energy Center - a date with the ever-congenial Philly Flyers. I'm glad the NHL actually thought this one through. There's not another team that SHOULD be the first to get thumped in the Goal Mine (or whatever nickname it ends up being). In reality though, it's a brilliant marketing move - a fierce rivalry for the opening of the new arena. That should be a nationally televised game. If it isn't? Well shame on them.
Pens also have the Winter Classic in Heinz Field against the Caps. This will be extremely overhyped I'm sure but will probably be a cool event. I have no intention of getting tickets for a game you can't even really see in a football arena.
Pens will also be playing the Blackhawks on Feb 20th for "Hockey Day across America" which is another new PR initiative, along with a hockey day in canada the week before AND the Heritage Classic (2 canadian teams playing).
And then there's free agency. So far, Matt Cooke and Ben Lovejoy have been resigned before the deadline. 1.8mm for 3 years and 575K for 3 years. Very frugal of shero.
I'd like to see maybe Eaton and Leopold signed...and wish the best of luck to Gonchar who is supposedly asking $6MM annually.
