Blue White Ball Recap
So I put this into the Penn State Football thread for a reason: I'll follow up my original post in the comments section so only you guys can see my rant re: a certain son of the head coach.
The Ball, as a whole, was a HUGE success. We originally had 200 paying guests but, with the rescheduling due to Snow-mageddon, we were down to 170 confirmed attendees and only 155 showed up. This was down from 178 in the inaugaral edition last year that raised $10K towards Thon.
Everything went off without a hitch. Tara Wheeler looked great and she showed up solo, sans date. Two of my boys proceeded to chat her up the whole night, which the diva ATE UP, but neither ended up accompanying her to her accomodations across the river. Funny to see them put the full court press on and come up empty handed.
Roger Williams was originally supposed to speak (he's the president of the Alumni Association) but the rescheduling conflicted with his schedule. We had another PSAA rep speak in his place and had the 2 Thon families' kids come up and introduce our special guest.....the Nittany Lion!
An alum and former lion (from the early 70's) stepped up and did the part w/ the branch campus lion suit. It was hilarious b/c he did his dancing and one arm pushups (more on that later) and took a bunch of pics. Yinz that are my FB friends can see my profile pic with the lion from the event.
All in all some great silent auction items (my fav's were all the Pens memorabilia, an authentic Jack Ham signed #33, and a game helmet w/ LJ's signature).
We don't have final numbers but I think we'll be VERY very close to $10K again, with a reschedule and smaller attendance!!!!!!
